Pudakul ToursPudakul Aboriginal Cultural Tours

Pudakul is the name of the macaranga tree (freshwater hibiscus), it is the tree our people use to make a spear. Pudakul Aboriginal Cultural Tours is a 100% fully aboriginal owned operated tourism accredited business that delivers an original, authentic, very popular aboriginal culture and nature based engagement experience.

We operate in the Northern Territory, Australia, from the Adelaide River Flood Plains on Aboriginal owned and operated Limilngan-Wulna Land – which is at the forefront to World Heritage, listed Kakadu National Park. Adelaide River Wetland is a just 45 minutes from the Northern Territory capital city of Darwin, and is a huge area bursting with wildlife and plants, along with great local attractions such as Fogg Dam, Windows on the Wetlands, Jumping Crocodile Cruises, Djukbinj National Park, Leaning Tree Lagoon and Mary River National Park.

We have a regular Aboriginal Cultural Tour departing at 10:30am daily for 2 hours every day from May until the end of October.  This tour is a perfect tour to do on its own or to combine with your touring itinerary, for example you could do the Jumping Crocodile cruise at 9:00am, then join the Pudakul tour at 1030am, end with Billy Tea and Damper and be back in Darwin around 1:30pm, or continue onto Kakadu or Litchfield, or join a Jumping Crocodile Cruise at the end of the tour.   We also organise separate group departures to suit touring schedules and can also provide specialised touring on country, such as a bush tucker lunch or dinner near the stunning billabong.

Additionally we offer two tours with transfers to / from Darwin that combine our Aboriginal Culture Tour with a jumping crocodile cruise or a wetland discovery cruise.

This tour gives you an opportunity to engage with local Aboriginal people, the environment and wildlife, learn basket weaving, dilly bag making and the techniques used in the process. Have a go at throwing a spear or blowing a didgeridoo, play the clapsticks and learn about our local bush food and medicine. You will be served with damper (bush bread) and tea after the experience.

We are a Tourism Accredited business and proudly one of Tourism Australia’s / Indigenous Business Australia’s “Indigenous Tourism Champions Program” product suppliers.  This elite group of product suppliers represents the best-of-the best Indigenous experiences in Australia.  Additionally we are a member of The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC).
