Ruth Waterhouse was born in Hobart, Tasmania. She studied Sculpture at the Tasmanian School of Art, and completed an Associate Diploma of Fine Arts in 1984. During this time Ruth gained experience in bronze foundry techniques, and developed skills in modelling in wax. In 1986 Ruth established her own business Ñ Brown's River Bower Ñ to produce an exclusive range of jewellery and sculpture in precious metals. Blending technique with inspiration, Ruth specialises in animals, particularly Australian wildlife.

The animals you'll find in Ruth's collection include ... frogs, lizards, snakes and bats ... birds ... octopus, weedy sea dragon, seahorses, green turtle, humpback whale and seal ... our unique platypus, echidna, and marsupials - bilby, eastern quoll, koala, wombat, wallaby and possums are particularly featured. And of course, out extinct friends, the thylacine and dodo.

Some animals are created in brooch form only, others may exist as earrings, bracelet, pendant or ring. While in some designs the animal stands alone, others may be depicted in their natural environment.
