SWIM WITH WHALES AND HELP THE REEF!

Swimming with minke whales with Eye to Eye Marine Encounters

Each year on the northern Great Barrier Reef an extraordinary wildlife event takes place. Dwarf minke whales make their way into our warm, tropical waters and during this time show an incredible fascination with snorkelers. Encounters between people and whales can last many hours and involve between 1 to 20+ animals. A sustainable swim-with-whale tourism industry has emerged with encounters taking place 100% on the whales’ terms, earning operators a reputation for world’s best practice and providing passengers with one of the best wildlife experiences on earth. A rare opportunity to join one of these trips for FREE has been offered up as the winning prize for Great Barrier Reef Legacy’s first fundraising campaign.

Great Barrier Reef Legacy is a not for profit social enterprise working to improve the long-term survival of the Great Barrier Reef and coral reefs worldwide by providing unprecedented reef access for scientists, innovators, students and media on a state-of-the-art long-range research vessel.

GBR Legacy is unique in that it will be run INDEPENDENTLY. By harnessing public, private and corporate donations it will operate outside the reach of  the lobby based government. GBR Legacy also works alongside (instead of in competition with) existing conservation and scientific groups by providing much needed logistical support to their projects. GBR Legacy believes that by working together and empowering the great minds of our time they will bring about practical solutions to the current problems facing coral reefs. This is a pivotal period for the future of our oceans and the time to act is now.
