Wildlife Festival

The first Wildlife Festival of its kind in Australia - come along and help us celebrate our wonderful wildlife!

A month-long celebration of our wildlife including two full days of WIldllife Expo and our final wildlife workshop for the year

 
Compettitions for school students are being held in conjunction with the festival,contact Ronda Green
A wildlife photography competition is being held in conjunction with the festival, to be judged by well-known nature photographers Tony Groom and Glen Threlfo.

This is alreay gearing up to be a big event. With additional sponsorship we can make it even more special. If you would like to contribute $50, $100, $200 or more and be recognized for same on PR for the event, contact Ronda Green

Schedule of events for festival

Saturday-Sunday 30-31st August Wildlife Weekend at Binna Burra. Lamington Natural History Association. Nonmembers welcome. Small mammals, birds, ecological interactions... Walks, talks, and the beginnings of what will be an on-going monitoring program of mammals, birds and other wildlife around Binna Burra. Sunday 7th September Threatened Species Day. No special activities planned, but much is happening already throughout Australia, and it is a day set aside to remember the demise of the Thylacine (Tasmanian 'tiger') and consider what we can do to prevent other species vanishing from our planet

Wildlife Expo!

Two days of entertainment and education for all ages. FREE ENTRY
Beaudesert Information and Arts Centre, Mt Lindesay Highway, Beaudesert (near High Schooll)

Meet quolls, dunnarts and other local wildlife not often seen, join in activities, talk to wildlife workers and volunteers, see higi-quality wildlife art and photography, learn about the diverse array of wildlife we have in our region

Friday12 September and Saturday 13 September 10.00am – 7.00pm : displays, talks, films, meetings, activities

Saturday 27th September 10.30 – 4.30pm Our wildlife, past, present and future (final wildlife workshop)
The Centre, Brisbane St., Beaudesert (adjacent Scenic Rim Council Headquarters).

The Border Ranges region harbours one of the highest diversities of wildlife in Australia. This workshop includes a final celebration of our local wildlife, a summary of previous workshops and outlook for the future

Sunday 28th September 10.30 – 4.30pm Grand opening of Wildlife Information Centre, Running Creek. Tour of Info Centre and Araucaria property, nature tails, children’s activities, refreshments

Wildlife Photography Competition
September 2008

Sections:

A. Animal-animal interaction. Two different species of native wildlife or between two members of the same species – could be fighting, meeting, courting, feeding, chasing, playing …..
B. Plant-animal interaction. Native animals (any type: mammals, birds, insects…) feeding on native plants (fruits, flowers, leaves..)
C. Any other wildlife photo

Entry fee $5.00 per photo. Up to A4 size, mounted on stiff cardboard ready for display (make cheques payable to Wildlife Tourism Australia)

Photographers retain copyright, but photos will be displayed in public places in September 2008, including the 2 days of Wildlife Expo at the Beaudesert Information and Arts Centre, to showcase the wildlife of our region


FIRST PRIZE; 2 nights accommodation at award-winning Llllydale Host Farm, Mt Barney (good opportunity to photograph more wildlife). Other book prizes

Photos may have be taken elsewhere, but must show wildlife that could be found within the Scenic Rim
