Interpretation Australia’s 2026 National Conference is coming up this 9-10 September, and Wildlife Tourism Australia is proud to be part of the program. Held on Ngunnawal Country at the National Museum of Australia, the conference brings together guides, storytellers, digital innovators and cultural custodians for two days of inspiration, connection and shared insight.
This year’s theme, Ripples of Meaning: The Art of Interpretation, explores how meaning moves through our work, from place to people, past to present, insight to action.
Keynote speakers include Helena Vičič, Co‑Director of Interpret Europe, and Dr Keir Winesmith, Chief Digital Officer at the National Film and Sound Archive, offering global perspectives on meaning‑making and the future of cultural institutions in a post‑AI world.
WTA Vice‑Chair Maree Treadwell will be presenting on Day 2, sharing insights into how wildlife species relate to geology, vegetation and human influence, and how interpreters can help audiences understand these big‑picture ecological connections.
