Wildlife in flooded areas need help
The recent heavy flooding in Queensland has been disastrous for humans and domestic animals, as we have been hearing on the media.
Native animals are likely to also be in great trouble. Often the riparian strip os the only fragment of natura habitat for many kilometres, and when this is severely flooded for days or even weeks, many of the animals will have nowhere to go but vast expanses of cleared land – very little shelter, very little food – so many will be drowning, starving, falling easy prey to various predators or dying of exposure.
If you live in or near a flooded area, please be on the lookout for animals in distress or patches of habitat in danger of becoming isolated or totally swamped
Also, please consider a donation to the RSPCA or Queensland Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
I am a wildlife carer from victoria. in stead of donating money, can I help out as a volunteer in or nearby the flooded area?
Thanks for your response.
