Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves, Southeast QLD

Located on top of Mount Tamborine in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Cedar Creek Estate is a Land for Wildlife Property, surrounded by rainforest and manicured gardens.

Start your day with a Glow Worm Tour, where our team of biologists will take you through our rainforest boardwalk and world-first Glow Worm sanctuary.

Our cave was created to protect the local species of glow worms, Arachnocampa flava. Glow worms are actually fly larvae that glow in dark areas to attract and catch small insects near where glow worms reside.

Glow worms are extremely useful in our Australian ecosystems since they help control insect populations! The goal of our cave is to make an experience that is accessible for families, and highly beneficial to the wild glow worm populations.

Visiting the Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves gives visitors the wholly unique opportunity to see glow worms glow during the daytime, and be surrounded by living lights. Since people have been diverted to our cave instead of local glow worm colonies, glow worm numbers in the wild have begun increasing again.

Featuring a 30 year old rainforest reforestation project, native wildlife can also be seen around the grounds.

And guests can enjoy a display of native frogs and insects in the Frog Hollow exhibit, a self-guided area free for Glow Worm Tour visitors to explore.
