Skipper Pete is the owner-operator of the commercial vessel MSV 11438 “Lakes-Explorer”, which provides wildlife tours and water-taxi services within the Gippsland Lakes.
Where are the Tours?
Based at Lakes Entrance, wildlife tours focus on the Ocean Entrance and islands within the Lakes.
Wildlife often seen includes Australian Fur-Seals, Burrunan Dolphins, Pelicans, Cormorants (5 species), Hooded Plovers, Terns (4 species), and other migratory birds.
Tours only run if weather, tides, and suitable wildlife viewing is possible.
Tours vary from 1 to 3 hours and are customised for a maximum of 3 passengers per Tour.

Skipper Pete is a Certified Eco-Guide by Eco-Tourism Australia, a Licensed Tour Operator, and an active member of Birdlife Australia.
He also assists with wildlife projects, including the banding of Pelicans for research and Citizen Science, creating new sand habitats for migratory shorebirds by dredging, and monitoring a locally accessible growing colony of Australia Fur-Seals.
