Wildlife Tourism: a Force for Biodiversity Conservation and Local Economies?

echidnaWe are making great progress with this exciting event, the third national conference on wildlife tourism ever to be held in Australia.

We are now piecing together the draft of a program schedule.

If you are planning to present at the conference but not yet ready to submit your abstract or register for the conference, please let us know ASAP what your proposed topic is.

A sample of talks that will be presented at the conference:

  • “Analyzing food-derived interactions between tourists and sika deer (Cervus nippon) at Miyajima Island in Hiroshima, Japan”
  • “White shark (Carcharodon carcharias) cage-diving in Australia: Participants’ beliefs using Theory of planned Behaviour”
  • “A collaboration between a wildlife tour operator, a zoo and science: Monitoring nose patterns throughout life in tagged and captive koalas.”
  • “Conservation on Spicers Hidden Vale – A Cooperative Venture”
  • Phillip Island Nature Parks and their contribution to local economy and conservation (exact title TBA)
  • Zoos in Victoria and their contribution to local economy and conservation  (exact title TBA)

Please note:

We have moved the conference to a larger venue in the Geelong CBD due to the increased interest we are receiving from speakers and delegates keen to participate – instead of the Vines Rd Community Centre it is now to be held at the Mercure Geelong
